"The Bosnian Student Project, A Response to Genocide," a 40-page booklet by Doug Hostetter published in 1997 by Pendle Hill Publications, $4. Includes photographs, a map and a list of students and schools in the Project. The story of the project is told through the lives of the students, host families and organizers. In the middle of a genocidal war in which Muslim and mixed family students were targeted for expulsion or extermination in Bosnia, Americans of all religious backgrounds opened their homes and hearts to these bright young people. In a world deeply divided by ethnic and religious hatred it is important to understand and celebrate when love and tolerance overcome hatred and prejudice.
